| This house was not fit for human habitation when we bought it 11 years ago. Since then, Mike has spent countless hours rebuilding, restoring and refurbishing most of the 25 windows, miles of wood flooring and nearly all the walls and woodwork. In the process, we’ve gained untold knowledge about the people who have lived in this house, their lives in Ohio and have been fortunate to have contact with many of their descendants from all across the country. |

| The dining room – is the oldest part of the house, built as a cabin with a loft in 1800, then included with the rest of the house at its completion in the 1820s. In winter, we keep the home fires burning in the original fireplace, where we also provide hearth cooking demonstrations. |

| The kitchen – was added to the house in 1997, but Mike built it using mortise and tenon construction techniques, just like the rest of the original house. |

| The smaller parlor – called the “ladies parlor,” it’s set up for winter craft projects (like quilting) and music practice. |

| The larger parlor – make sure to check out the original horse hair and mud plaster we found when we excavated the fireplace. |

| Ebenezer’s Room – was added to the house about 1840. We purposefully uncovered the original wide board floor and wooden tongue-in-groove ceiling. We also found signs of the original cabin loft and a stairway from the first floor. |

| The Cummings Suite – is named for Lydia Cummings Porter, the first lady of this house, and our periodic friendly visitor. |
